As I wanted to challenege myself, I have decided to enrol myself into Stirling Selection (2011). Details of the course are a bit sketchy as I can understand.

Can anyone give me any advice/tips ?

Thanks,

Ok first off all I would like some information about your experience

Have you done any expeditions? (Long planed out walks using maps and with backpacks on)

How long have you been playing airsoft?

I only ask this because this test is based on the SAS selection test and even though its not as harsh as SAS selection going into something like this cold turkey you will be wasting your time

have done a number of expos, and as a cadet, I know the basics of combat and fieldcraft. carrying a 25kg bergen shouldn't be a problem either.

Right well work up your endurance you will need it

get familiar with carrying a bergan again

remember discipline is key if there is ex-regiment guys teaching they wont be happy with any crap

and also remember you only get out what you put in i.e. make the effort and the weekend will fly by and you will enjoy it

And most of all LISTEN and you will be a shoo-in

Hi,

I know some guys that have done the selection.
You def need to be physically fit.

There is a kit list that includes an AEG.
I'm sure you have seen it.

http://www.stirlinga...lection-11.html

I think the less you need to carry the better.

It is most def hardcore and great challenge!

You'll be proud to have passed it, if you do!

Good luck!
John

OK, I don't mind people taking airsoft seriously, but that is just silly.
and not a good kind of silly. That is actually rediculous.
I would assume they are the kind of players who would explode at the sight of a Hi-cap mag.
also, what is the use in all that fancy kit, when at the end of the day, you still have to be within 100m of whoever you are shooting at anyway.

I could keep going, but its 10 to one and I need sleep.

This is just god ###### sad... and this the kind of stuff that makes peoplke assume airsoft is for geeks and tbh looking at that i would to.. these people are probably drop outs from the sas selection, probably taken it twice failed and told they cant come back, so decided to set an airsoft one up that we can pass but no one else can so it makes them look all physical and tough.. anyone doing this for recreational reasons is sad.. fair enough if you training for sas selection bu t to do this for airsoft WHY ? go join the army serve 3 years and take the real thing if you want mil sim that much..

WelL TBH i wouldnt say i swould do it myself BUT i can see why someone would do it.....

I guess you have to be a Millsimmer to understand cose that is exactly what Stirling Arisoft is.... Military Simulation

Yer it can go abit over the top with the helicoptors etc but if you where there in a game and they said right hop into this heli and go for it! I dunno about you guys but that would pump me up :)

I know the selection process is a bit "out there" but i guess its there so they dont end up with rlittle rich kids runeing there extremily well put together senireos

And sorry Team Hatchet but why would I join the Army for MIL SIM correct me if i am wrong but you play Mill Sim to Simulate the Military...... Not be in the Military

Thanks

Jack

Well you play it for fun they play it competivily

Compair it to football yer the avrage footy player will just enjoy the odd kick around in the park but there is a group of poeple (the professenals) who would travel around the world to play with poeple, train everyday, and compete in tornerments

If you think about it this is the same situation (in a away) you play airsoft every other weekend in a publicy run field just for fun but these group of poeple take to compertertive side of the sport and train etc etc.

If i take the way your describing Airsoft and apply it to football its just a group of poeple kicking infatble balls at each other tring to get it in a rectangle net :S

Thanks

Jack

Totally different.. bad comparison tbh.. proffesionals get payed a ridiculous amount of money and they get told to do that, i play football 3 times a week airsoft once a month.. none pretends they are proffesional footballers like these people pretend they are real soldiers lol.. there is also no such thing as a proffesional airsofter so therefore cannot be compared to preoffesional footballers? you want mil sim ? do you not get it playing airsoft anyway without having to pretend your going on SAS selection lol? i just watched the video on that website lol the guy saying all the stuff is a total geek and they blur out peoples faces but have them in the picture above trying to make them look like SAS soldiers lol.. total FAIL.. football is a very simple game aswell 1 ball 22 players 2 goals get the ball in the goal more times than the other 11 players.. airsoft is simple have fun shoot people but no need to try to recreate the SAS selection for running round the woods shooting some people..

The main point in your post is I, everyones different and if they want to play Milsim let them dont patronize them there follow airsofters i think they deserve a little more respect, they enjoy milsim as much as you love the average skirmish.

They might play milsim for the experience, the realism, the rush and the challenge?

Personally it's a bit over the top!
But let's not even compare these guys to sas! The sas selection is the hardest selection in the British army I did p company when I was in and that was an absolute ruiner.
I could hit a mile and a half in sub 8mins and tab just as well! I wouldn't even think about selection it's a whole different ball game!
You go through seriouse physical and mental hits that 90% of the armys toughest and fittest fail.

If these guys are ex military then what they are providing is no different to a military weekend that some people go on and not anything that matches sas selection
